Laura Wnuk is a designer and artist who created a space where art meets fashion, with solar sculptural creations made to celebrate your individuality.
My name is Laura and I am the passionate and creative artisan who makes all the jewelry, ceramics, books and art you will find on this website. I created my ceramic studio in 2019 and I am the only person behind.
Sterling silver is sourced from France, Germany or Italy to reduce carbon footprint, and guarantee high quality. I sometimes up-cycle pre-owned sterling silver pieces.
I care about quality as much as I care about our planet, that is why I want to reduce carbon footprint while creating.
Porcelain comes from a small shop close to my place.
The Sterling silver comes from Germany, France, or Italy.
It also happens that I collect material from my trips. In such case, everything is local. I always try to collaborate with business around me before anything else.
My jewelry are made out of Mont Blanc porcelain. Composed of natural material, porcelain is the strongest of ceramics.
It is mainly composed of quartz, feldspar and kaolin which allow vitrification when fired at very high temperature. The vitrification process gives porcelain its resistance, strengths, whiteness and its transparency. Porcelain will keep forever its shininess and its original beauty.
Hypoallergenic, porcelain last a lifetime and is very easy to clean.
Stronger than any other ceramic, porcelain is very resistant. My pieces are fired two times (once at 980°, and the second time from
1200 to 1250°C), which give them their beautiful solidity, whiteness and transparency. The glaze applied
between the two fires provides a colored finish and additional resistance
through its vitrification.
However, always keep in mind that porcelain, like any object, never like shock, especially on hard surface.
Porcelain is very lightweight.
I care a lot about the weight of my creations, and especially for earrings. I always have a maximum weight, even when I create a big piece. I want my creations nice and enjoyable to wear, so you can move and your earlobe won't fall down.
Laura
Wnuk’s jewelry has a metal base with 925 Sterling silver, and
porcelain.
To ensure its longevity, they should not be worn in the sea, swimming pool, shower or while exercising.
Avoid direct contact with perfume, hair products or lotions, and let your beauty products set before putting the jewel on.
Take the jewel off at night.
Each jewelry comes with a silver polishing cloth that you can use to keep your Sterling silver shiny.
When necessary, clean the porcelain with mild soap and lukewarm water, then dry it with a soft towel.
For increased protection and to slow down natural silver oxidation, please store your piece in the plastic bag and in the jewelry protection box it came in.
After shaping my ceramic and porcelain work entirely by hand (I don't use a potter's wheel or any machine to flatten my creations), I let them dry for a few days. Once they are fully dry, I fire them one first time at 980°. Then, I sand lengthily and very carefully, I glaze them with the glazes of my choice, and I fire them a second time to 1250°. The second firing gives the vitrification and the sturdiness to the creation.
All my ceramic creations are food safe when it comes to vessels.
To ensure its longevity, jewelry should not be worn in the sea, swimming pool, shower or while exercising.
As for vessels and vases, everything is waterproof. Unless I specify in the description that it is not. It can be the case for some vases, for example.
The vessels can be cleaned in the dishwasher. However, for increased protection, I would recommend washing it by hand.
Each jewelry is very well protected in a hard carton box to avoid any damage. Each of these boxes are then put into a packaging box lined with paper.
Ceramics are protected the same way, with multiple layers of paper and carton.
My jewelry and ceramics are very well protected, so it should not break during transit. However, if it happens, please reach me out directly after receiving the order by describing the issue and sending me a picture of the damages at laurawnuk.studio@gmail.com. I will then sort things out for you and either offer a replacement when available, or a refund.
